What We Can Learn from the Financial Disasters

Part 1: Writing Report (13%)
(a) Describe in detail about the cause, process, and consequence of the case.
(b) What we can learn from the financial disasters?
Hints:
(a) In describing the cause and process of the case, students should discuss the key
persons, dates, and events. Graphs, figures, or tables can be included in the report with
appropriate citations.
(b) In discussing the consequence of the case, students should discuss the impact of the
financial disasters in relating to other participants in the financial market, and what are their
reactions. For example, peer firms, shareholders, regulator, and so on.
(c) Students are required to use their own words but not directly copy or quote from a
particular source. All assignments will be processed by plagiarism check.
(d) Students are expected to study Chapter 36 of the textbook and incorporate the
contents from textbook (and/or other sources) with the case, then answer “what we can learn
from the case”. A summary of Chapter 36 without appropriate connection with the case is
consider as an unacceptable answer.
(e) Students can use information from multiple sources as long as the source is
appropriately referenced. For example, academic journal articles, media reports, regulation
discussions, et al.
(f) Students should provide efficient and logical analysis and show comprehensive
evidences to support the conclusion.
Format Requirements:
The writing report should include the following components: title page with abstract (150
words max), table of contents, introduction, body, conclusion, and reference.
 Word count: 1000 (+ or –10%) words. Abstract, table of contents, and reference are
excluded from word count.
 Format: 12-point Times New Roman font, 1.5 lines spacing, normal margin.
 Tables and figures: Insert in body section.

 Reference: Work submitted for this assignment must be consistent with the guidelines
set down in the Q Manual, which is the faculty’s student guide for producing quality work on
