A newspaper article is a type of journalism that looks at a specific topic. It contains analysis, forecast, expert comment, etc. In the article, the journalist summarizes the events and facts, makes some conclusions and predictions. If you want to know how to write a good news article, you can read this article.
News broadcasts are the most popular media material. These are small messages that briefly describe the event that has occurred. For example about a concert, the construction of a factory or the death of a famous person.
These messages answer several basic questions: what happened, where did it happen, when did it happen, and who was involved? News reports provide important details. For example, how many viewers are there, what is being produced in the factory, quantity, benefits the late actor has, etc.
Even a schoolboy can write messages. But you need to know a few nuances. The structure of notes is the same as when writing press material – the title, the introduction (so to speak, the first paragraph announcing the article), the basis and you can also include a conclusion.
If you don’t know how to write a news article, these rules should be read. The first thing you can do is write correctly in classic newspaper material and make your topic relevant and attractive to the reader.
Feel free to introduce yourself as a freelance journalist for the publications that you have already published or would like to publish (the second option is better to coordinate with the editors beforehand). Then go home and start writing.
Let’s start from the beginning. You need an address. Headings can be divided into newspaper titles and information pages. If you’re trying to explain it simply, the newspaper headline should be short (2-3 words), and it should be artistic and interesting. And for websites, a long title is used that makes it clear the essence of what happened. For a deeper understanding of the headlines, read the articles on your favorite news portals.
Write a news article
First of all, you need to decide on the subject of your article. The title can be thought of both at the beginning and at the end of the article.
Command – the first paragraph of the text. This is the introduction. Typically, the introduction is printed in bold type. In the introduction, identify the topic and allow the reader to briefly but briefly understand the topic of the article.
What does the text of the article contain, its basis? Analyze the problem under investigation and write about it in detail. You can organize your article chronologically (describe some events in chronological order), or you can logically – if the following follows from one. Add statistics, expert opinions, and quotes. Learn by reading quality magazines.
Don’t just read the articles, write down what you liked about them, what sounds convincing, and what techniques you would like to use in your material. Give different points of view, let the reader think and form the final opinion for yourself. If the article is long, break it up into parts and create a subtitle for each.
The end contains a maximum of one or two paragraphs. Draw, summarize, draw some conclusions from what you have written.
And finally, a little tip. As you write and publish, sooner or later you will get bored with requests to write on topics you don’t care about, all for free at the same time. Prepare a convincing argument for “no” in advance if you do not like the offer. And when asked to write a resume or other script, how do you explain to people that this work has to be paid? For example, suppose the preparation of the material takes a lot of time and effort, distracts from work, and you can only write it for either way.
The best way to structure a newspaper article is to first write an outline. Review your research and notes. Then jot down ideas for the following six sections. Remember, this is just a foundation upon which to build your story.
I. Lead sentence
Grab and hook your reader right away.
Which facts and figures will ground your story? You have to tell your readers where and when this story is happening.
III. Opening quotation
What will give the reader a sense of the people involved and what they are thinking?
IV. Main body
What is at the heart of your story?
V. Closing quotation
Find something that sums the article up in a few words.
VI. Conclusion (optional—the closing quote may do the job)
What is a memorable way to end your story? The end quote is a good way to sum things up. That doesn’t always work. If you are quoting more than one person with different points of view in your story, you cannot end with a quote from just one of them. Giving one of your interviewees the last word can tilt the story in their favor. In this age of the Internet, you can also end your story with a link to more information or even your own behind-the-scenes blog post.
If you don’t know how to write a news article about an event, check out these tips. You are going to a concert in the city (a rock band, a symphony orchestra or an ethnic band from Australia). You want to write a newspaper article about it (see your last name in a newspaper / magazine / internet, brag to your friends, or just start journalism). Why not.
Attend the event, get good photos, and speak to concert promoters, artists, and the audience whenever possible.
For the sake of clarity and memorization of how a news article works, we’re giving a wild example. The French President has arrived in Baghdad. For a hard copy, come up with a title as follows. Select the keywords from the text that you will use to create the title. Words: visit to the President, France, visit to Baghdad, important guest, unexpected and so on. These words evoke specific associations. Well, the title is supposed to be “An Unexpected Visit”. By the way, you can come up with a title before and after you write a note. That is already more convenient for you. The website will be titled “The President of France Visited Baghdad”.
Let us now come to the foreground. The introduction is the first paragraph of the text. It is usually printed in bold. In the introduction, we briefly present the preliminary information. You write our long, fake headline, fitting the news agency (The President of France has arrived on a working visit to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, to sign an agreement. He will stay here for a day and then go there. ”2-3 small sentences At the beginning You can deviate a little from each rule, but the introduction should not consist of 5 words or several paragraphs without fanaticism.
After the introduction, write the body text. Write down what you know about what happened, what was in the press release, and what you can learn from other sources. Be short, to the point, give people the most important information and key details.
Finally, you need some kind of final sentence. Let’s say, “Mr. and the President promised that this would not be his last visit to the cities of Iraq and that he would come to the Iraqi Folk Music Festival next year, Iraq because (this is where beneficial prospects are summarized).” Also at the end of the newsletter, there may be a background, the background of this event, some details about it.
